Dr. Edward Ambis, a former hockey player at Cornell University and for the US National Hockey Team, has been interested in the effective use of mouth guards for more than thirty-five years. Most mouth guards are hard for athletes to wear. Their bulk and size interfere with breathing and speaking. Athletes mutilate them. They hide the mouth giards in their equipment and don't wear them, and they generally don't like them. However, based on the professional literature, mouth guards provide significant protection for the athlete; those who do not wear them take huge risks of injury, including tooth fractures and concussions. With his dental knowledge and hockey background, Dr. Ambis has designed a mouth guard that maximally addresses athletes' compliance and injury protection. A key to his design is the ease with which the athlete can wear the mouth guard - there is minimal interference with breathing and speaking. It fits snugly and their mouth is less dry.
